In our modern world with our future technology more and more people forget about the old ways to do anything, from putting a nice shelf over the fire place to sitting on a rocking chair on the porch outside.
More and more people started to use dry wall for furniture and simple shelves, even whole entertainment centers from drywall and metal just to keep being updated with progressing in our modern life.
What about the smell of real wood? What about the look of Birch wood in the right light? Call me old fashion but I prefer to know I have something original custom cabinets made of real breathing wood with original style and life of its own.
The old generation made of real stuff, from antiques and real sculptures from back then, why try to make metal out of wood? Why try to make an IPod out of cell phone?
I am doing really ok with just a phone and just a camera, especially when sales men always trying to upgrade my phone, upgrade my living room and even my bed.
Cabinets are made of wood, why try to make it out of metal or drywall, cabinets are made from cabinet makers souls and heart, you can see it in cabinets grains and colors, metal can never feel homey like wood, metal made for pipes and I don’t think pipes are going to be made out of wood, so why change the world just because some cool magazines says so.
Cabinets and wood in general actually breaths and even we can hear it in our nights when everything is quite and you can actually hear furniture's moving around, which is basically our (wood) furniture is shrinking when it's dryer in the nights.
What I'm trying to say is wood is irreplaceable especially because its in our house, if wood is breathing its just like us, homey, cozy and personal, that’s why allot of old furniture's is heredity for the next generation from our old generation, its makes me smile every time I see and feel cabinets from my grandfather old living room, I will never let it go no matter how cheep I can make the same thing out of metal or drywall or what ever it can be, same as for metal, I'll never change my doors or even cars from metal, there is a reason why they did it like that in those days, I love it and I just think I need to pass it on.
Try to be up to date but don’t loose your heart for being upgrade.
